Central Information Technology

Central Information Technology (CIT) is the central IT service department of TU Graz and a dependable partner for all TU Graz members, ensuring a stable and secure provision of information technology. CIT offers modern technologies and tools that support working, learning, teaching and researching at TU Graz.

CIT is grouped into four main service teams that interact and work closely together:

Infrastructure Team

This service team provides the basic infrastructure and basic services for system operation at TU Graz. It forms the foundation for stable IT operations at TU Graz and is responsible for the planning, development and maintenance of the central infrastructure components. The focus is on stability, security and the provision of resources that can be used by other departments and organisational units.

Core responsibilities

  • Management and operation: Server housing, network, server, storage, e-mail services
  • Security: Provision and maintenance of IT security and data protection
  • Identity management: Management of user accounts and access rights
  • Teamwork: Provision of services for TU Graz organisational units, co-operations and commercial leases on campus

Digitalisation Team

This service team develops and operates digital tools and applications designed to modernise and improve the efficiency of teaching, research, and administration. The Digitalisation team coordinates the development, operation, and implementation of software projects. It drives the digital transformation of TU Graz by developing and implementing innovative solutions to the challenges faced in a modern-day university context.

Core responsibilities

  • Application support: Support throughout the entire application lifecycle, from demand management, requirements support, implementation, rollout, maintenance, further development, and discontinuation management
  • Software development: Development of new and adaptation of existing software solutions
  • Project management: Management and implementation of digitalisation projects
  • Data analysis: Analysis of data for informed decision-making

Support & Devices Team

This service team is the central point of contact for IT and device support at TU Graz. Trained professionals offer comprehensive services for both staff and students. The Device & Service Management team focuses on providing quick help, expert advice, reliable devices and a functioning media infrastructure.

Core responsibilities

  • IT support: First-level and second-level support for all IT issues
  • Media infrastructure: Support for media technology in lecture halls and seminar rooms
  • Devices and equipment: Rental and management of notebooks and other devices

Administration & IT Strategy Support Team

In addition to the strategic direction of Central Information Technology (CIT), this service team supports the development and operationalisation of the digitalisation and IT strategy at TU Graz. It is responsible for CIT finances and personnel, IT purchasing, and the coordination of IT projects. In these areas, the Administration & IT Strategy Support team acts as a link between internal requirements and the service units at TU Graz, as well as across universities.

Core responsibilities

  • IT strategy development: Coordination and support in the development and implementation of TU Graz’s IT strategy
  • Financial and project controlling: Support in budget management for projects, teams, and areas
  • Project coordination: Support in the coordination of IT projects
  • IT sourcing: Procurement of IT products and services
  • Knowledge Management: Ensuring and promoting user-centered information delivery, as well as organizing (IT) training sessions and knowledge-sharing formats
