Nostrification

Nostrification is the procedure of recognising a degree certificate obtained at foreign universities as entirely equivalent to a degree certificate obtained at an official Austrian degree programme. This grants the applicant the right to hold an (equivalent) Austrian academic degree and pursue a profession that requires the attainment of such a degree certificate in Austria.

You may apply for the nostrification of your degree certificate if you need it to pursue your profession or continue your education in Austria. You may apply for the nostrification of the following degree programmes at TU Graz: bachelor’s degree programmes or master’s degree programmes.

2. Submit an application

Submit an application for the nostrification of the degree certificate to the Dean’s Office of the respective degree programme.

3. Nostrification procedure

The nostrification procedure will be carried out by the responsible Dean of Studies, and a written notification of the outcome of the procedure will be given. Recognition of equivalence is based on the criteria of the content, scope and requirements of the degree programme in question. If the degree programmes are recognised as being basically equivalent according to these criteria, and only a few achievements are lacking, the applicant may be required to pass individual examinations to fulfil the nostrification requirements. It is not permitted to submit the same application for nostrification at the same time, or after its retraction, to another university.

Documents Required

  • Nostrification application request, submitted to the Dean’s Office of the respective degree programme.
