U!Train 2025: Unite! Mobility Programme Connects Europe

02/24/2025 |

By Marina Tantscher

By organising this year's U!Train, TU Graz is underlining its commitment to new innovative learning formats and international cooperation.

The first U!Train took place in 2024, travelling from Barcelona to Grenoble. In this edition of the programme, 30 students developed the "U!Train Manifesto for sustainable mobility."

30 Unite! students will embark on a train journey across Europe this summer at the invitation of TU Graz and TU Darmstadt – they will be going on an educational journey that combines sustainability, entrepreneurship and intercultural exchange in a unique way.

Innovation on rails: the U!Train concept

As a blended intensive programme (BIP), the U!Train combines digital learning with in-person events during a train journey across Europe. The trip begins in late summer in Darmstadt and takes 30 bachelor’s and master's students from all nine Unite! universities to Graz. In Darmstadt and Graz, as well as during the train journey, students take part in interactive workshops, seminars and group projects which are supervised by leading lecturers and experts in the fields of entrepreneurship and sustainability. The final presentations of the results will take place in Graz.

The U!Train principle is based on practical learning methods. The students not only develop innovative business ideas, but also work together to solve concrete challenges of sustainable development and gain valuable experience in intercultural cooperation.

In addition to the academic programme, the U!Train also offers students numerous opportunities for intercultural networking, cultural explorations and informal activities.

The Unite! university network aims to shape a forward-thinking European higher education landscape through innovative teaching and learning formats, a shared trans-European campus, and close cross-border collaboration. Young talents from across Europe come together to not only acquire academic knowledge but also strengthen intercultural competencies and develop sustainable solutions for global challenges. This vision is successfully brought to life with the U!Train – far beyond traditional lecture halls and learning environments.

The application phase for the U!Train 2025 will begin shortly. Interested TU Graz students can register for this unique opportunity from 7 March 2025 via the Unite! website!
