After a multi-stage selection process, only the best qualify for one of the coveted scholarships, which were ceremoniously awarded to 38 bachelor’s and master’s students from 17 countries last Friday in the auditorium of Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). The significant investment of 400,000 euros by sponsors from business, industry and the public sector is a clear commitment to Graz as a centre of education and innovation and enables the young talents to concentrate fully on their studies.

Attracting top young talent to Styria as a centre of science

“The competitiveness and future of our region depends largely on our talented students and graduates. With our TU Graz 100 scholarships, we are able to inspire the most talented students from Austria and abroad to study at TU Graz and thus strengthen Styria as a centre of scholarship and business in the long term together with our partners,” says TU Graz Rector Horst Bischof. “I would like to thank the sponsors for their support, something which cannot be taken for granted, especially in economically challenging times, but is all the more far-sighted.”

Mentoring and insights into business practice

The 26 bachelor’s and 12 master’s students, who come from a total of 17 countries, were presented with their scholarship certificates in person by the sponsors. The scholarships for bachelor’s students are endowed with 4,000 euros per academic year, master’s students receive 8,000 euros per academic year, and the duration of the scholarships is a maximum of two years in each case. The students are supported by academic mentors at TU Graz and gain important glimpses of business practice through their close relationship with the sponsors. The scholarships are linked to proof of performance.
Thanks to the support of twelve companies, associations and institutions, a total of 75 students are currently benefiting from a “TU Graz 100” scholarship. The 38 newly awarded scholarships are funded by the following sponsors (in alphabetical order):

  • APG
  • ATCOLD
