We process your personal data in order to send publications and information produced by TU Graz (annual reports, magazines, newsletters, invitations, press releases). In accordance with our statutory obligations we have prepared this statement to inform you about the nature, purpose and legal basis of our data processing activities.

In the process of sending out the following publications and information materials, TU Graz processes the following categories of personal data:
The processing of personal data is performed on the basis of your consent pursuant to Section 174 subsection 1 Austrian telecommunications Act (TKG) 2021 (electronic communications) and Art. 6 paragraph 1 (a) GDPR (postal communications). Your consent is given by active and voluntary registration for the sending of each publication.
As part of the fulfilment of our statutory tasks, it is in the public interest to inform public figures, researchers in their subject area and graduates/alumni about the current state of research and the development of the university, in accordance with Art 6 paragraph 1 (e) GDPR in conjunction with Section 3 Austrian Universities Act (UG).
Your personal data will only take place within TU Graz. Generally, no transmission of data to third parties will occur. However, in the event that data is to be transmitted to third parties, this fact and the identity of recipient will be shown in the process of registering for the publication in question.
If you receive a publication based on your consent, your personal data are stored until you withdraw your consent. You can withdraw your consent by unsubscribing from the publication in question.
In cases of public interest we shall process the data for as long as this is necessary to serve the public interest or until a (justified) objection to the processing of data is made.
Apart from these cases we will only process your data if statutory record-keeping obligations apply or for as long as legal claims are possible under statutes of limitations.
In the process of sending publications and information materials to public figures, the data are partly gathered from publicly available sources by employees of TU Graz (safeguarding their use for only the stated purpose).
You have rights to information and access, rectification, data portability, restriction, objection and erasure of data. Besides these, you can withdraw your consent by unsubscribing from the publication. However, bear in mind that withdrawal of consent does not affect the legality of the processing of your data retrospectively. Also, the exercise of these rights cannot override contractual or statutory obligations.
