Registration takes place exclusively via TUGRAZonline. If the course of your choice is full, you can choose a parallel course, or you will be added to a waiting list. When a seat on the desired course becomes available, you will automatically be enrolled and notified by e-mail.
When registering for courses via your smartphone, make sure that you have a stable WIFI connection. Otherwise, it is possible that your registration will not go through. Please always verify that your registration has been confirmed by going to “My Courses” (“Meine Lehrveranstaltungen”) in TUGRAZonline.
Go to the assessment for language courses, read the relevant information concerning assessment and fill in the self-assessment form for your language level.
The choice of courses depends on when you took your Matura exam and how good your English skills were at that point. You should also take into consideration that language skills can deteriorate over time if you do not use the language regularly or at all. We only recommend the C1-level courses if you received a grade of “good” or “very good” on your Matura exam and if you have a very high level of English.
Yes, you can change courses if there is space in the course that you would like to attend. Use the advice service if you are uncertain concerning the level of your language skills.
Should registered students not take their course places, those on the waiting list will be assigned a fixed place in order of their waiting list position (date of registration). If there is a longer waiting list, students from Graz University of Technology (inlcuding NAWI Graz) will be prioritised. If you get a fixed place, you will be informed by email.
Please inform your lecturer about your absence to make sure that you are not removed from the register. If you miss the first class unexcused, you will be signed off the course and a student from the waiting list will be given your place.
You can attend a course a second time. However, you must register via ssiw, stating your name, matriculation number, program code and course number. @tugraz.at
If you received a certificate of completion after attending the course the first time, you are not entitled to a second certificate of the same type, but we will gladly issue a certificate of attendance if you have fulfilled all course requirements.
You cannot buy any course book at the service department in Kopernikusgasse. You can buy the required course books in a local bookshop or on the internet.

You will receive a certificate when you have successfully completed the course. Normally, one credit point is assigned per course hour.
No, this is not possible. The invested effort would not correspond to the ECTS credits of a foreign language course. Our language courses are designed for students who want to learn a language that is not their native tongue.
Certificates that confirm your language level are only accepted as valid for a certain amount of time. This varies from university to university. Some universities will only accept certificates that are not more than two years old. If you have questions regarding your future stay abroad and the validity of a language certificate, please always contact your advisor at the International Office first.
