BioTechMed-Graz invites you to the Faculty Club with Kari Alitalo from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Helsinki. The Director of the Wihuri Research Institute will talk about “Translational insights into endothelial growth factors”.
Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) are involved in orchestrating the development, maintenance and regeneration of the blood and lymphatic vessels. However, despite significant progress in mechanistic understanding of the function of VEGFs in various human disease processes, there has been limited translation of this knowledge to disease therapeutics.
In his talk, Alitalo will review some of the attempts to make headway towards better understanding and proof-of-principle clinical translation of the VEGFs.
