BioTechMed-Graz invites you to the Science Breakfast with Michaela Krenn from the Working Group for Equal Opportunities, Gender and Diversity Counselling and Lisa Mittischek from the Department of Diversity and Equal Opportunity, Gender Studies, Trainings, Lectures, both at the Graz University of Technology will give a talk on “Sexual Harassment in Academia – What can we do?”
Sexual harassment in contemporary academia is a big issue and is increasingly being addressed at universities. Almost one in three students and employees at 46 European universities or research institutions say they have experienced gender-based violence in the work context (UniSAFE Study 2022). In this session both provide information about the context, prevalence and attitudes around sexual harassment and gender-based violence. They give input to the legal basis of sexual harassment and the responsibility of universities. They give answers how to appropriately respond to a disclosure of sexual harassment. They address the responsibility for people in supervising/management position and show possibilities for intervention. They inform where people can get support within and outside the university.
