As a symbol of the international cooperation with eight leading European universities of technology under the umbrella of Unite!, nine trees have been planted on the three TU Graz campuses. Each of these trees represents one of the nine partner universities and symbolises the deeply rooted idea of a sustainable Europe.

From maple and magnolia to ash and elm, three trees were given a home at Campus Inffeldgasse, four at Campus Neue Technik and two at Campus Alte Technik. This diversity emphasises the diversity of the alliance as well as its common goal of a sustainable European campus and fruitful cooperation.

With our great partner universities we are building a network of sustainable development in Europe for future generations.

“TU Graz is a very lively part of Unite!. In cooperation with our great partner universities across the entire continent, we are building a network of innovation, technological progress, educational mobility and, last but not least, sustainable development in Europe for future generations,” says TU Graz Rector Horst Bischof, who is delighted with this highly symbolic tree planting.

Each tree bears a plaque with the name of the respective Unite! university and a QR code that leads to further information about the university alliance. In addition, benches near the trees invite you to linger. This symbolic action not only strengthens TU Graz’s ties with its European partners, but also demonstrates its commitment to a sustainable and climate-neutral future.

The locations of the nine trees on the TU Graz campus can be found here on the interactive Google map.
