Art, history, law, animals, politics, the universe, evolution, and science comprise millions of individual elements. While the large can never exist without the small, conversely, the ensemble often provides context and meaning to the element. Whereas some constituents may be lost, replaced, or forgotten over time, others define the trajectory of the whole.
As humans, we are fascinated by the tiniest, the greatest, and their interactions. On this Science Day, we invite you to join us in exploring the term “SCALES” from the diverging perspectives of cultural studies, mathematics, space, African studies, philosophy, immunology, and physics.
We invite you to this year’s Young Academy Science Day that consists of two parts: First, seven members and one alumnus of the Young Academy will present their perspectives on how “SCALES” relate to their research in English. The Science Day will culminate in the second part: A German “Festvortrag” highlights how humanity observes the earth from space and measures, understands, and predicts minuscule changes.
Part one and two can be attended independently.
The event is concluded by a reception.
We kindly ask you to register by 19 September 2024 via the following link: Public Part: Registration to the Young Academy's Science Day (oeaw.ac.at)
