INTERACT (Improved holistic assessment of pedestrian protection) is a 3-year project funded by the FTI-program Mobility of the Future of the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, which is managed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The Institute for Vehicle Safety (VSI, Graz University of Technology) leads the project.
INTERACT aims to improve the efficacy assessment of active safety systems, which contributes to the prevention of pedestrian accidents and the reduction of injury severities. Essential for this endeavour is the generation of data sets, which represent a variety of pedestrian movement patterns in different situations and under different environmental conditions.
To accomplish our mission, we record pedestrians with a stationary camera-based traffic observation system and analyse important influencing factors such as trajectory, pose, age and gender. We will complement the data of our stationary camera-based traffic observation systems with synchronized LiDAR point clouds of the entire scenery, recorded during dedicated test drives.
Recorded images of individuals are handled in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and are used for research purposes only.
If you would like more information, please contact us to receive the comprehensive data management plan (DMP), which features in-depth descriptions of how we will use, transfer, store and protect the collected data.
