In a world in which many important relations can no longer be perceived through our senses, we need technology that augments our cognitive capabilities and enables us to perceive and understand complex relations. We tackle intelligence from different perspectives: we strive to understand the workings of the brain; we use models from cognitive psychology to develop systems that interact with humans; we examine the complexity of software systems to find better ways to build it; we utilize big data and behavioural traces to support decision making and problem solving; and we investigate self-healing and self-adapting autonomous robots. Our excellence is reflected in the prizes we won, the research projects we conduct, our scientific publications, and the successful intelligent systems we have created.
