Haus der Architektur| Mariahilferstraße 2
The event is dedicated to communal forms of living and participation in architecture. Following the official presentation of two thematic books, insights and potential for future developments will be discussed with experts from research and practice.
The books presented will be:
Andrea Jany: Experiment Wohnbau - Die partizipative Architektur des Modell Steiermark, jovis 2019.
As an alternative to standardized mass housing construction in the post-war years, an independent typology developed in Styrian social housing in the early 1970s. It is a portrayal of a historic-social history, in which 28 housing projects are presented and evaluated on the basis of a survey of the level of satisfaction of current users.
wohnlabor: gemeinsam wohnen gestalten, HDA 2019.
As part of Architecture Summer 2018, wohnlabor planned a colorful and intensive week with the aim of exploring how we as a society want to live in the future. The findings from a workshop with residents and guest contributions from experts in research and practice show how community living can be successful. Using concrete examples, the book outlines the diversity of housing and encourages us to take the design of our living spaces into our hands.
