Petra Eckhard has been senior scientist and director of GAM.Lab at the Faculty of Architecture at Graz University of Technology since 2018. She studied American literature and cultural studies as well as media studies in Graz, Bern, and New York. In her dissertation, Chronotopes of the Uncanny (2011, transcript), she focused on the literary construction of uncanny urban spaces in postmodernist city novels. She currently researches narrative architecture, the connection between architecture and writing, as well as anti-canonical building structures of the 20th century. From 2012 to 2018 she held the position of Assistant Professor at the Institute of Architectural Theory, Art History and Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Architecture at TU Graz. Prior to that she taught American Literature and Cultural Studies at the Department of American Studies, Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. She has been managing editor of Graz Architecture Magazine (GAM) since 2012.

Gerald Kozicz has, since 2019, been project manager of FWF Austrian Science Fund’s project “Digitalisierung des Kulturerbes von Chamba” (Digitalization of Chamba’s Cultural Heritage). After completing a degree in architecture, he wrote his PhD thesis titled Die Sonne als Entwurfsparameter für eine nachhaltige Architektur im Kontext der sino-asiatischen Stadt (The Sun as Design Parameter for Sustainable Architecture in the Context of a Sino-Asian City). Since 2005, he has project-managed several FWF projects on Indo-Tibetan architecture. The current project aims to comprehensively document and digitalize the cultural heritage of the Chamba district in today’s Himachal Pradesh (India). His most recent publications include: “Embedded in Living Tradition: The Gaurishankar Shrine of Jagatsukh” (2019) and “The Old Temple of Basgo” (2019).

He studied architecture at Graz University of Technology and, in 2020, he completed his PhD with the dissertation titled Klettbeton – Analyse und Herstellungsmethoden verbindungsfähiger Betonstrukturen am Vorbild der Klettverbindung (Hook-and-Loop Concrete Analysis and Production Methods for Connectable Concrete Structures Modelled on Hook-and-Loop Connections). He works at various architectural practices such as Riegler Riewe Architekten. His recent publications include the paper “Hook-and-Loop fastener – application for the technical building equipment” (2019), the result of research project “Entwicklung von Klett-Befestigungssystemen für die Technische Gebäudeausrüstung (Klett-TGA)” (Hook-and-Loop Fastener Application for Technical Building Equipment). His research and teaching activities focus on the field of civil engineering with a specialization in connection techniques, in particular hook-and-loop fastenings.

Marcella Saade graduated as an Environmental Engineer in 2010, in Brazil. She obtained her MSc in Civil Engineering in 2013, and her PhD in Civil Engineering in 2017. During her PhD, she acted as a visiting researcher at the Working Group Sustainable Construction at TU Graz. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory in Life Cycle Assessment and Circular Economy of the University of Sherbrooke, in Canada, from 2018 to 2020. Marcella holds a tenure-track position at the Institute of Structural Design of Graz University of Technology since April. The focus of Marcella’s work is on life cycle inventory generation and dynamic modelling of carbon cycles in the built environment.

Robert Schmid has been project assistant at the Institute of Structural Design since 2016. Jörg Schröder has been university assistant at the Institute of Architecture Technology since September 2019. He studied architecture in Wuppertal, Aachen, and Berlin, graduating from Aachen University of Applied Sciences and Weissensee Academy of Art Berlin. He works for architectural practices in Germany and the Netherlands, such as Herman Hertzberger’s Architectuurstudio HH in Amsterdam. Between 2008 and 2018, he researched and taught at Dresden University of Technology, working at the chair for architectural theory and architectural criticism as well as the chair for spatial design and design teaching. Birgit Schulz has been senior scientist and head of the Light Lab at the Institute of Spatial Design since 2013. Marisol Vidal studied architecture at the ETSAV in Valencia (Spain). Since 2003, she has taught and researched at the Institute of Architecture Technology and, in 2008, she completed her PhD with a dissertation on design strategies and exposed concrete in contemporary Spanish architecture. In her research, she focuses on questions of material, materialization, and materiality of architecture, concentrating on the use of exposed concrete. She has undertaken numerous teaching assignments at different universities, including ETSAB Barcelona, USM Valparaíso, CAUP Tongji, Politecnico di Milano, University of Houston, Aalto-Yliopisto, and ITU Istanbul.
