Hydrogen storage in iron
Iron pellets can be used to store hydrogen, similar to batteries for electricity. They are non-toxic, non-explosive, easy to transport and can subsequently be utilised by the steel industry. Graz-based environmental engineers Viktor Hacker and Fabio Blaschke have developed a special mixture of iron materials that can withstand over a hundred charging and discharging cycles. It was presented in the trade journal "Materials Today".
