University Project Assistant (PhD Position, 2 Openings) – PGM-Free Electrodes for Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

Two full-time PhD positions (40h/week each) are available for the development of sustainable, PGM-free electrodes to improve performance and scalability of AEMWE technology for green hydrogen production. Focus is placed on nickel- and iron-based catalyst-coated substrates and advanced techniques like slot die coating and plasma etching.

Your responsibilities:

  • Development of production processes for PGM-free electrodes
  • Improving electrode lifetime and performance
  • Material testing and characterization
  • Supervision of thesis students
  • Publishing research findings

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or science field
  • Background in electrochemistry or materials science is a plus
  • Interest in sustainable hydrogen technologies

University Project Assistant (PhD Position) – Carbon Capture with Innovative Solvents

We are looking for a PhD candidate (40h/week) to join our team in the field of Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU). This position focuses on evaluating and characterizing alternative solvents for CO₂ capture, aiming to improve the energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact of industrial-scale carbon capture systems.

Your responsibilities:

  • Research on CO₂ chemisorption using innovative solvents
  • Experimental study of mass transfer and absorption kinetics
  • Model development for material and energy balances
  • Transfer of findings to a technical-scale plant
  • Collaboration with industrial partners

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • Knowledge of chemical reaction engineering and separation processes
  • Interest in reactive separation and process intensification
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in data analysis tools and MS Office
