The annual KOEN Sketchbook Prize was awarded to first-year students at the Faculty of Architecture’s summer exhibition. The sketchbook has been used from the very beginning as an integral element of the architectural studies program. It reflects one of our primary concerns: the understanding that the making of architecture is a process. The books record and structure thoughts in both visual and written form and ultimately become chronicles of individual design processes and student life in the first year of study. The submissions included notebooks from the first two semesters, filled with hand-drawn sketches during the courses “Construction,” “Form and Design,” and throughout the excursion to Milan. The winners were delighted to receive architectural publications sponsored by the House of Architecture (HDA) and new, as of yet unfilled sketchbooks sponsored by Kaspar Harnisch.
