The Faculty of Architecture at Graz University of Technology is pleased to announce the GAD Awards 19. For the 17th time a panel of experts will discuss, select and award the best master thesis projects of the past academic year with the Graz Architecture Diploma Awards 2019. The awarded projects will then be shown in an exhibition.

Massimo Bricocoli is Full Professor in Urban Planning and Policies at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DASTU) at the Politecnico di Milano. Previously, from 2009-2010, he was an Awardee of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship at Humboldt Universität Berlin and HafenCity Universität in Hamburg. In 2014 he was appointed Velux Visiting Professor at the Centre for Urbanism at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and in 2015 Full Professor at the University of Luxembourg. His research focuses on urban regeneration processes, urban and housing policies, as well as ethnography and urban sociology.
Hilde Léon is an architect and the managing director of the Berlin architecture office léonwohlhage, which she founded in 1987 together with Konrad Wohlhage († 2007). Parallel to her professional development as an architect, she has been involved in teaching and research since the 1990s - first at the Berlin University of the Arts, then as Visiting Professor at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg, and in 2000 she accepted a position as professor at the Institute for Design and Building Theory at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. In 2019 she was elected Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape.
Martin Lesjak co-founded Austrian-based INNOCAD Architecture in 1999. Since then he has realized numerous projects of diverse sizes and scopes in architecture and interior design such as residential, office, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, educational, public, and retail. In 2013, he started the product design studio 13&9 with designer Anastasia Su, which creates products ranging from lighting, furniture, fashion, and accessories to sound design for global clients. In 2015 he received one of the architecture and design community’s top honors, “Designer of the Year 2015” from Contract Magazine (USA), followed by “Architect of the Year 2016” from the magazine BUILD.
