This year, the jury selected two outstanding projects as equal winners of the GAD Awards ’15. In addition, the Tschom Housing Award, the Hollomey Travel Award and an audience award were given out. The winners of this year’s GAD awards are:

Sonja Gasparin | gasparin & meier architekten | Villach

Sonja Gasparin studied art education from 1970 to 1974 at the Academy of Visual Arts in Vienna and architecture from 1974 to 1982, also in Vienna. She has owned a joint studio with Beny Meier since 1989. From 1998 to 2002 she was vice president of the Chamber of Architects and Engineering Consultants for Styria and Carinthia, and until 2006 was a delegate to the Federal Chamber of Architects and Engineering Consultants and to the ACE (Architects’ Council of Europe). From 2003 to 2007 she worked as a lecturer at TU Wien and from 2005 onwards was a women’s policy advisor to the city of Villach. From 2006 to 2008 she was also a member of the Advisory Council for Urban Design for the city of Linz and from 2009 to 2012 was a member of the Advisory Council for Urban Design for the city of Steyr.

Wolfgang Novak | Anah | Berlin & Salzburg

Wolfgang Novak is a practicing architect with a focus on urban and architectural theory. He is one of two founders of Anah and co-editor of the magazine of the same name. He completed his studies in architecture at TU Graz in 1999, proceeding to work in various architecture firms both in Austria and abroad (such as NOX Architekten in Rotterdam). He has extensive teaching experience in Austria and Germany and attended the continuing education program MAS in Landscape Architecture at ETH Zürich from 2012 – 2013.

André Poitiers | André Poitiers Architekt GmbH | Hamburg

André Poitiers studied architecture in Braunschweig after completing a carpentry apprenticeship at the Asmus yacht-building shipyard in Glückstadt. He worked for Norman Foster in London and has been working as a freelance architect in Hamburg since 1995. He was appointed to the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2000.
