At the OVE energy technology conference, Sonja Wogrin gave a tutorial on "Mathematical optimization and modeling for a climate-neutral energy system".

This year's energy technology conference of the Austrian Association for Electrical Engineering (OVE) dealt with questions such as: Which technologies and framework conditions are necessary to achieve the set climate and energy goals? Why is it necessary to expand storage technologies, integrate e-mobility intelligently into the infrastructure and implement innovative concepts in industry and for the grids? And why is there also a need for an overall system view for the electricity system and across sector boundaries?

In order to be able to answer questions like these, simulation and optimization models are of particular importance. For this reason, Sonja Wogrin was invited to give a tutorial on "Mathematical optimization and modeling for a climate-neutral energy system" in the afternoon of the first day of the event. In her presentation, she discusses how mathematical modeling and optimization can be used as a decision-making aid for relevant challenges in the energy industry and thus support the achievement of the ambitious climate goals.
