The Institute for Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation was represented by Sonja Wogrin and Udo Bachhiesl at the Austrian Energy Congress.

This year's Oesterreichs Energie Kongress was dedicated to the topic of a safe, clean and affordable energy supply.

Sonja Wogrin debated with Thomas Kienberger (Head of Chair of Energy Network Technology, Head of NEFI_Lab, Montanuniversität Leoben), Gerd Pollhammer (Head of Smart Infrastructure, Siemens AG Austria) and Michael Strebl (division speaker trade & sales Oesterreichs Energie, CEO Vienna Energie GmbH) in the session "Decarbonization and electrification: Which technologies and applications lead to the climate target?" about the following topics:

  • Outlook for the future of energy: What is the current status of science and research?
  • Which trends can be identified?
  • Which technologies are most promising in the medium and long term?
  • Where can existing systems be used for new applications?
  • How do we best achieve the exit from oil and coal?
  • Where is electricity the most suitable alternative?
