Robert Gaugl was awarded with the Gender and Diversity Award 2019 of the Graz University of Technology for making the website of the institute more accessibility friendly.
Robert Gaugl has endeavored to make the website of the Institute for Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation more accessibility friendly and also make it more accessible to people with visual impairments who use so-called screen readers. These screen readers read the content of a web page to the user. In order for them to work optimally, it is necessary to mark English words in German texts (and vice versa) in the HTML code, to insert text descriptions for pictures and to use meaningful links. With these changes, visually impaired people can also experience the content of pictures and makes the navigation of the website easier with meaningful links.
The ceremony of the Mind the Gap Award took place as part of the event Lunch & Lehre on November 13th, 2019. The prize was handed over by Mrs. Barbara Herz from the Office for Gender Equality and Equal Opportunity and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Mr. Stefan Vorbach.
The IEE congratulates Dipl.-Ing. Robert Gaugl warmly and also wishes the remaining winners all the best.
