Courses offered by the STS Unit are interested in exploring the manifold relations between science, technology, and society. Neither society nor science and technology develop independently from each other. Our teaching philosophy is to aid a deeper understanding of the interplay between science, technology and society in an interactive manner that has the students engage with the wider implications of their primary fields of study. Our courses address hopes and expectations associated with technology, innovation processes and their bubbles, technophobia, controversies and social conflicts. Gender relationships are of particular interest as well as sustainable development and ethically sound technologies.

Co-Registration
If not explicitly provided in the curriculum anyway, each course can be counted as a "free elective" by students of all disciplines of Graz University of Technology and University of Graz.

Students who are registered for a degree programme at a different Austrian university (e.g. University of Graz) and wish to take examinations at TU Graz must sign up as co-registered students.
