Bus & Bim in Graz

Graz is renowned for its trams, affectionately called Bim due to the ringing of their warning bells. Here's some useful information for your arrival and navigating public transport in Graz.

Public Transport

The public transport company in Graz is called Holding Graz. There are trams and busses. Graz is in zone 101. Every ticket for this zone is valid for all modes of public transport: tram and bus lines with single and two-digit line number, the Schlossberg funicular (great views of the city), regional buses with three-digit line number and all trains. The validity of regular hourly, 24-hour, and weekly tickets extends to Graz-Thalerhof Airport.

Ticket Purchase

Standard tickets

Hourly ticket: A single ticket costs €3 and is valid for one hour, including changing and even return.
24-hour ticket: A day ticket costs €6.40 and is valid for 24 hours.
7-day ticket: A ticket for a week costs €18.30 and is the cheapest ticket if you are planning to use public transportation more than twice a day on at least three days.

Where to buy tickets

Tickets can be bought via the GrazMobil app, on all trams and busses as well as at stationary ticket vending machines. Please note: Only cashless payment is possible on busses. On trams and at stationary ticket vending machines it is also possible to pay with cash. Alternatively, you can buy tickets in around 100 tobacconists all over Graz. Good to know

Be aware that some tickets purchased outside the GrazMobil app may require validation before boarding. Make sure to validate your ticket properly to avoid any potential penalties.


Getting to TU Graz Campus Inffeldgasse

For the most convenient public transport connection to TU Graz Campus Inffeldgasse, take tram line 6 from the city center of Graz in the direction of Sankt Peter. Exit the tram at the stop "Schulzentrum St. Peter" (link) which is situated at the end of Inffeldgasse. Walk westward along Inffeldgasse to reach the campus.

In addition to tram line 6, bus lines 63, 64 (64E), and 66 also make stops at this location.

TU Graz's Campus Inffeldgasse is located near the Grazer Messe (trade fair grounds). If you are coming from Grazer Messe or Stadthalle, you can reach the campus either on foot (approximately a 15-minute walk) or by taking bus line 66 directly and comfortably.

A tram ride within the historic center of Graz is complimentary if the journey spans between Hauptplatz and Jakominiplatz, including one additional stop in both directions. For instance, if you travel from Jakominiplatz to Schlossbergplatz or Kunsthaus, your tram ride is free.
