University Assistant (m/f/x) / PhD Position in the field of UWB indoor positioning systems

The Institute of Technical Informatics at Graz University of Technology is one of the leading places in Europe for research on Internet of Things and more generally networked embedded systems. The offered position will be part of the Low-Power Embedded Networked Systems (LENS) group. The institute provides funding to purchase material needed by the candidate to carry out research, to attend international research conferences for paper presentations, and potentially also for extended visits to international partner institutions. The university also offers a mentoring program for PhD students, extensive in-house training opportunities including languages and soft skills, sports courses, and a welcome centre with many offers and support especially for international students.

Your Responsibilities

The candidate will carry out scientific research in the field of indoor positioning systems, the results of the research will be published at conferences and in journals and should lead to a dissertation. The candidate will also be involved in the education of Bachelor's and Master's students.

  • Research in the area of indoor positioning of low-power embedded systems using ultra-wideband radio technology (UWB);
  • Carrying out a dissertation in this area;
  • Preparation of research papers and scientific talks;
  • Teaching at Bachelor and Master level;
  • Supervision of students.

Your Profile

Admission Requirements

  • Completed Master or Diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information & Computer Engineering or equivalent.

Desired Qualification

  • Very good knowledge of and interest in design, implementation, and evaluation of indoor positioning approaches for low-power embedded systems that meet high accuracy and reliability requirements; the research will be based on ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technology;
  • Very good knowledge of the English language both written and spoken, knowledge of the German language is an advantage;
  • Didactic qualifications for teaching courses.

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 45,882.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
