Research Fields

Our research covers the wide field of sensor systems. We study physical processes, utilizing multi-physical simulations and experimental studies, to identify and examine sensor effects. Further, we develop robust embedded electronics and specific signal processing to prototype sensor systems and we elaborate on metrological characterizations and calibrations.

We thereby attach importance on applications in the field of health related topics, air pollution, air quality monitoring, climate offenders, battery monitoring and sustainable mobility, but we are keen to exciting every research opportunity. We develop sensor systems with highest requirements on temporal resolution and the detection range, as well as low cost sensors suitable for IOT networks and big data generation, sensors for extreme conditions or new measurands.

For optimization and validation of our sensor systems we can rely on our experience and the capabilities of our reference laboratory.

Our main research fields are:

  • Health Related Sensors
  • Environmental Sensing
  • Fiber Based Sensors
  • Miniaturized IC-Sensor Technology
  • Photonic Sensors

We continuously strive to broaden our horizon and like to tackle unknown phenomena. Up to now we have expertise and experience with sensors basing on the following effects and techniques:

  • Condensation Particle Counting
  • Diffusion Charging
  • Electrical Particle Sensing
  • Faraday-Cup Electrometer
  • Fiber Bragg Gratings
  • Luminescence
  • LIDAR
  • Laser Induced Incandescence
  • Light Scattering
  • Photoacoustic Effect
  • Photothermal Effect
  • Silicon Photonics
  • Spectroscopy UV-VIS-NIR
  • TDLAS / 2fWMS
  • Ultrasonic Beamshaping
