ALTER[nativ]RAUM - A Guide to Age-Friendly Public Spaces

The master‘s thesis ALTER[nativ]RAUM examines and describes challenges that arise in the development of age-appropriate cities, especially in the design of public space. Such challenges implement spatial structures and changes in lifestyles. In order to be able to live independently and self-determinedly in old age, both structural and eco-social measures are required that have a positive influence on the mobility behavior of senior citizens. Many measures not only facilitate the everyday life of senior citizens, but all age groups would benefit from an age-appropriate and barrier-free public space. The resulting results are shown by means of some weak points in Graz and the possibility of improvement through a vision of the future is presented.
