  • In 2010, Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Katrin ELLERMANN was appointed to the Institute of Mechanics in Graz
  • 2009-2010 provisional management of the Institute by Ao.Univ.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Reinhard BRAUNSTINGL
  • 2004-2009 Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Walter SEXTRO was appointed to the Institute of Mechanics
  • 2002-2004 Provisional management of the Institute by Ao.Univ.-Prof., Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Hermann STEFFAN
  • 1999 Division of the Institute of Mechanics into the Institute of General Mechanics, which is assigned to the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and the Institute of Mechanics and Transmission Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

  • In 1891, Prof F. WITTENBAUER was appointed full professor.
  • 1887 Professor Ferdinand WITTENBAUER is appointed associate professor and head of the Chair of Pure and Technical Mechanics and Theoretical Machine Theory
  • 1886 Prof Franz STARK accepts an appointment at the German Technical University in Prague
  • 1874 The Technical University is taken over by the state as the Imperial and Royal Technical University in Graz

  • In 1865, the Joanneum Technical College is transformed into the Styrian Regional Technical College.
  • In 1841, in the course of this spin-off process, the university establishes its own chair. Its first director is Prof Josef v. ASCHAUER
  • 1841-1846 During this period, the Chair of Technical and Practical Mathematics is divided several times. This resulted in the creation of a further Chair of Mathematics, a Chair of Practical Geometry and a Chair of Descriptive Geometry
  • In 1829, a chair for technical-practical mathematics was established at this institute, which was initially headed by Prof Josef v. ASCHAUER
  • In 1827, the Institute of Mathematics was founded at the Joanneum.
