Data Champions: Chat for Champions

The first Data Champions event in presence took place at the beginning of August at HS II with snacks and drinks. In contrast to the previous events, this time there were no ready-made topics or guest speakers, but a feedback round on the programme and the opportunity for participants to discuss any points of interest in the round.
The participants described the Data Champions programme as a great experience and would also like to see the group expanded. This group is good for finding synergies and developing new ideas.The Data Champions discussed how their future role could look like (community platform, etc). In general, training and awareness building in this area is important to the group (what is important and available) and starting RDM training at PhD students level seems to be a good idea for all. There was also a desire to have guest speakers from industry to see how they deal with the RDM issue. Participants also noted that it is great to have a dedicated data steward for this topic as a contact person. It was a great experience for everyone to finally see each other again in real space and everyone hopes that this can be repeated soon.

The next meeting will be held in GatherTown in September 2021. The "Data Champions" community at TU Graz is being established as part of the research field of action in the "Digital TU Graz" project.
