In Austria, more than 40% of greenhouse gas emissions are generated through transport!
Decarbonising mobility is not only an ecological necessity, but also an opportunity to improve the quality of urban life. How can architecture, urban planning and design contribute to the huge challenge of the mobility transition towards a climate- friendly and sustainable mobility?
The seminar aims to demonstrate the influence of transport infrastructures and mobility plans on settlement structures. It depicts the potential of mobility spaces to transform settlement structures in terms of ecological and social sustainability. The critical exploration of theoretical volumes, such as essays by Kevin Lynch (View from the road) or Robert Venturi / Denise Scott Brown (Learning from Las Vegas) will provide us some hints on the one hand, on the other we will discover contemporary approaches through contributions on active mobility, mobility justice and urban climate in relation to mobility of four invited guest speakers.
