This online form for sex, gender and divesity sensitive research addresses different aspects of such research on tow major levels: "Equal Opportunities & Expertise within the Research Team" and "Sex, Gender and Dviersity in Research". This form helps to cirtically assess the different phases of the research process and determine whether different criteria for sex, gender and diversity sensitive research have been taken into account and/or fulfilled.
Why do we need such a form? When including a sex/gender dimension within a reserach project, it is not sufficient to merely include the biological variable "sex" in empirical studies, depending on the research question and context, to do justice to the entirety of all potential implications the variable "sex" may carry. Additional dimensions that define social gender beyond the biological variable of "sex" need to be taken into account. Diversity aspects such as for instance "age", "social status", "physical skills", "religion", etc. need to be considered to be able to analyze intersecting categories and traits. If sex, gender and diversity aspects are not included in research projects, researchers' assumptions and interpretations may be distorted in every phase of the research process.
In addition, research funding programs increasingly require an equal opportunities policy for project teams and the integration of sex, gender and diversity dimensions as an additional topic of research.
Do you have a practice example? Please take half an hour of your time and answer the questions in the form provided in the link to make your achievements and valuable experience visible. Take a stance!
You may have been successful on different levels:
- cooperation, euqal opportunities within your team
- the concepts, models, and methods you applied
- your research results and publications
The
online form is a questionnaire (see on top to the right) which will help you to describe your research project. The questions are based on the TU Graz Checklist for Diversity and Gender Sensitive Research Projects (see on top to the right).
You do not yet have a practice example?Use the examples and/or questions as an inspiration for future research projects.
