Variable Message Signs – VMS – metropolitan area Vienna & Tyrol – Traffic Impact Analysis

Traffic load on Austria’s highways will further increase in future aloud forecasts. Strong increase in freight traffic and especially leisure traffic are expected. Because of this, it is useful to install variable message signs (VMS) that the increasing mobility-needs can be satisfied, by enhancing traffic safety and decrease from traffic caused environmental pollution. Therefore a capacity Analysis and Impact Evaluation of variable message signs and harmonised Speed control on A2 and A4 in the vicinity of Vienna, but also in the state Tyrol, was done.
