MixME – Mixed Traffic Microsimulation Environment
Keywords: Traffic flow simulation, shared space, image sensing of moving objects
Inner-city roads must cope with a variety of different users. Since the early 80s, traffic calming measures were implemented to improve road safety in urban areas and to enhance the habitat city. While literature on traffic calming lists a wide variety of measures, evidence for establishing traffic calming measures is still lacking. Therefore, a suitable guide using the cost-benefit analysis was developed. This judges the actual state of traffic situation of a road and helps the actual state similar to a defined target state. The evaluation procedure was tested in this project by applying and calibrating ten urban roads on its implementation and meaningfulness.
