GKB – White Paper

In this White Paper future infrastructure measures for the Graz Köflacher Bahn und Busbetrieb (GKB) are designed under the supervision of TU Graz. GKB operates several railway and bus lines in the southern and western region of the Austrian state of Styria. The ISV forecasts the future travel demand considering future spatial development. The EBW looks at various construction options (track alignment, electrification) and operational issues (service rate, timetable scenarios) matching timetables of other operators like OEBB. The concept of future services will be elaborated jointly with GKB, the state of Styria and the national ministry. This state-of-the-art research study indicates measures to promote public transport between rural areas and the urban agglomeration of Graz.
