Sonja Wogrin voted Austrian of the Year

For the 20th time, “Die Presse” has chosen the Austrians of the Year. Sonja Wogrin won the Austria 2023 in the “Climate Initiative” category.

Every year “Die Presse” honors people who have achieved exceptional achievements. These awards are given to well-known personalities from the fields of science, politics, business, art, culture and civil society. The Austrians of the Year are selected in a two-stage process. First, readers and users of the "Presse" website are asked to choose their favorites from a group of five nominees in each category. The three finalists per category will be determined based on these votes. Finally, the winners are selected by an expert jury from the three best-placed finalists.

Sonja Wogrin was honored in the climate initiative category in 2023. As head of the Institute for Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation at Graz University of Technology, she is shaping the future climate-friendly development of the energy system.
