At the event "Is the Energy Transition Failing?" hosted by the Wirtschaftskammer Kärnten, Sonja Wogrin shared key insights on the complex journey to a climate-neutral energy system.

Research done by the IEE highlights that Carinthia would face significantly higher costs without wind power, as it would need to be replaced by more expensive solar and storage solutions. Excluding wind power would make the transition about 60% more costly for Carinthia. A balanced energy mix is essential to meet climate goals and ensure competitiveness.

No technology should be excluded – a mix of hydro, wind, and solar energy is vital for a successful energy transition in Carinthia.

Social acceptance is key for renewable energy projects. Engaging local communities early, especially in tourism areas, is essential for success. Transparency and fairness are crucial for building trust.

It was a pleasure to be part of the event!
