From September to December 2024, Stefanía Gómez Sanchez and Jesús David Gómez Pérez from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas are our guests.

Stefanía is focussing on improving a Bi-level mathematical formulation for assessing the implementation of long-term Financial Transmission Rights (FTRs) on the system's expansion. Her aim is to analyze the impact of this instrument on the expansion of generation and transmission capacities in a liberalized electricity context. The focus is particularly on remote areas where the efficiency of the system could be potentially increased through the implementation of the targeted instrument.

And Jesús David is working on the development of a methodology for creating multi-horizon scenario trees, which serve as an input for multi-horizon stochastic optimization models. This methodology aims to capture uncertainties across different time scales in energy systems. Through his research, he seeks to enhance decision-making under uncertainty, which is particularly important given the continuous increase of renewable energy resources in the energy matrices.

We look forward to the valuable input that Stefanía and Jesús will bring to our research projects, and we hope that they will also benefit from our knowledge and experience. We are very grateful to have them with us.
