Robert Gaugl again took part in the CIGRE session in Paris and contributed his expertise on global energy systems.
The CIGRE Session takes place every two years in Paris. It is the world's leading event on the topic of energy systems, bringing together around 9,000 participants from the energy sector from over 100 countries, including 3,600 international experts and other decision-makers. They are all united by their interest in shaping future global energy structures.
Naturally, we at the IEE do not miss an event like this. Robert Gaugl has taken on the task of representing our institute with his expertise. As part of the CIGRE working group C1.44, Robert contributed to a paper entitled ‘From Regional to Continental Scale System Development: A New Methodological Approach to Studies of an Intercontinental Global Grid’. This paper, which examines innovative methods for studying global grid systems, was presented as part of the poster session at the CIGRE Paris Session 2024.
Overall, a very wide range of topics were covered and discussed, including plans for a 100% decarbonised energy system. In addition, the conference once again offered excellent opportunities for professional dialogue with numerous international experts from all over the world. We are already looking forward to the CIGRE Paris Session 2026!
