For the assessment of parameters relevant for driving dynamics, the Institute of Automotive Engineering has mobile measurement technology among other things:
- Fiber-optic gyro system for vehicle dynamics measurements
- Measuring wheel
- Wheel axle system
- Optical speed sensors
- System for the high-precision measurement of relative movements between several vehicles for driver assistance systems
- Measurement technology for detecting electrical energy flows in electric and hybrid powertrains
This allows the assessment of
- Driving dynamics relevant motion variables
- Objective driving dynamics assessment (longitudinal and lateral dynamics)
- Driving safety (for example to support the development of vehicle dynamics regulations)
- Ride comfort (vibrations)
