Measuring Technology

For the assessment of parameters relevant for driving dynamics, the Institute of Automotive Engineering has mobile measurement technology among other things:

  • Fiber-optic gyro system for vehicle dynamics measurements
  • Measuring wheel
  • Wheel axle system
  • Optical speed sensors
  • System for the high-precision measurement of relative movements between several vehicles for driver assistance systems
  • Measurement technology for detecting electrical energy flows in electric and hybrid powertrains

This allows the assessment of

  • Driving dynamics relevant motion variables
  • Objective driving dynamics assessment (longitudinal and lateral dynamics)
  • Driving safety (for example to support the development of vehicle dynamics regulations)
  • Ride comfort (vibrations)
