Software Engineering Education and AI

SEEAI

The "Software Engineering Education and AI" group at the Institute of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (SAI) at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) is dedicated to advancing the intersection of software engineering education and artificial intelligence. Our research encompasses the development and evaluation of innovative educational tools and methodologies, such as the Catrobat project, which aims to make coding accessible and engaging for learners. We explore the integration of DevOps practices and AI-driven approaches to enhance coding education, preparing students for the evolving technological landscape.

In addition to educational initiatives, our group investigates AI, augmented reality, and IoT applications in animal cognition research, with a particular emphasis on understanding the complex behaviors of octopuses. By applying AI techniques in particular, we aim to gain insights into animal intelligence and behavior, contributing to the broader field of cognitive science.

Furthermore, we address the challenges and implications of emerging AI superintelligence. Our work involves exploring strategies for managing and aligning advanced AI systems with a generalized humanity's values, ensuring ethical development and deployment of AIs.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration, our group strives to bridge the gap between software engineering education and artificial intelligence, fostering innovation and preparing for the future of intelligent systems.
