Nov. 1984: PhD degree (Dr. techn.) from the University of Technology, Graz, Austria
Jan. 1985 to April 1989: Assistant professor at the Institute for Information Processing, University of Technology, Graz, Austria
April to June 1987: Guest lecturer at the University of Denver, Colorado
May 1989: Habilitation (Universitätsdozent) in Theoretical Computer Science at the University of Technology, Graz, Austria
April 1990 to May 1992: Research position at the Free University of Berlin, Germany
June to July 1992: Lecturer at the Leonardo Fibonacci Institute, Trento, Italy
Oct. 1992: Appointment to a Full Professor at the Institute of Theoretical Computer Science, University of Technology, Graz, Austria. Head of the research group on algorithms, geometry, and optimization
