Team Karimi: Computational Social Science

We study the formation and evolution of inequalities and biases embedded in our connectivity patterns. Those inequalities and biases range from disproportionate visibility, perception biases, algorithmic unfairness, and accumulation and persistence of inequalities over time. In our group, we develop metrics, models, and algorithms to understand the causes and effects of network inequality in the real world. Our ultimate goal is to design strategies and interventions to mitigate those inequalities, aiming towards Network Fairness.

Our group has attracted multiple international funds such as ERC StG, WWTF, EU Horizon.
