Welcome to the
Institute of Algorithms and Theory
at TU Graz

The Institute of Algorithms and Theory (ATCS) was founded in 2025 and focuses on both classical and modern algorithm design, along with the foundational principles of computer science.

Research:

Research@ATCS spans classical and modern algorithm design, distributed computing, and massively parallel systems. Building on TU Graz's strong history in computational geometry, we continue to advance this field. In general theoretical computer science (TCS) and related fields have a strong presence at TU Graz. Click on  research for exploring the spectrum of TCS@TU Graz.

Teaching:

ATCS offers several courses on the Bachelor and Master level with a strong focus on computer science, software engineering, information and computer engineering, and mathematics. Several of our Master courses combine classic results in the theory of computation with modern research. Besides offering PhD programs in computer science, our institute is also associated with the Graz School of Discrete Mathematics (PhD School, ) which is jointly run by TU Graz and the University of Graz.
