WHAT WE DO

Our purpose is to transfer scientific insights and theory into practice and help our customers create valuable business advantages.

We offer the connection to science in the form of knowledge transfer, student collaboration, and science industry projects. Directly connect with our students—your future employees—through seminars and guest lectures. Work with us in establishing new business models or transforming existing ones models based on scientific foundations and cutting-edge insights.

OUR TARGET GROUP

The Business Model Lab has been designed to meet the needs of CEOs, managers, interdisciplinary teams, project groups and entrepreneurs who are presented with the challenge of having to develop new business models, some of which are disruptive, or to question the status quo of the existing business model and develop innovative solutions.

WHO WE ARE

We are a team of research assistants and associates working in the fields of Business Model Management, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship.

We are located at the Institute of General Management and Organisation at the Graz University of Technology. As a scientific institute, we have many years of experience in designing and innovating new buisness models and transforming exisiting ones on a theoretical as well as practical level.


TEAM

Christiana Ropposch 

Assistant Professor,  Graz University of Technology

Areas of expertise in the Business Model Lab:
business model design (especially young companies) and business model innovation (especially established companies), digital business models (e.g., mHealth)

Background:
After her studies of Software Development and Management, Christiana worked in the organization of a large event (RoboCup World Championships) and for a consulting company. Since 2010 she has been working at the Institute of General Management and Organization, where she also wrote her PhD thesis.

Camilla Reis 

University Assistant, Graz University of Technology

Areas of expertise in the Business Model Lab:
technology-based business models - design and creation of business models in high-technology industries, business models in software development companies

Background:
Camilla has completed her master’s degree in Software Engineering and Management at TU Graz, with a research focus on technology-based business models in high-technology industries. As a University Assistant at the Institute, she continues her research in the topics of flexibility and efficiency in software development companies.

Thomas Draschbacher

University Assistant, Graz University of Technology

Areas of expertise in the Business Model Lab:

  • Strategic analysis
  • Platform and ecosystem business models
  • Circular business models
  • Business models for cyber-physical systems

 

Background:
Thomas holds a PhD in Techno-Economics. His research interests cover many topics of strategic technology management such as platforms and innovation ecosystems, open innovation and the management of sustainable technologies. He has conducted research projects in the automotive industry, railway industry, electronics industry, and energy industry. His works have been awarded with best paper and best reviewer awards at multiple international conferences.

Martin Glinik

University Project Assistant, Graz University of Technology

Areas of expertise in the Business Model Lab:

  • Sustainable business models (especially young companies)
  • Circular business models
  • Entrepreneurship

 

Background:
Martin is a Ph.D. candidate with a master’s degree in business administration. His research inter­ests focus on the fields of business models, sustainability and entrepreneurship. In his research, he investigates sustainability-oriented business models of young companies. Martin is also project coordinator in a European Union funded project in the field of deep tech entrepreneurship. In addi­tion, he is part of the Gruendungsgarage, an academic start-up accelerator and has been able to support numerous of start-up projects in the course of his consulting activities.
