Hydraulic Enineering - Basics 1

The aim of this course is to give the students with an overview of hydraulic enginnering systems, a basic knowledge of processing hydraulic engineering tasks and the conception of barrier and retention structures. The concept of stability checks, pressure drainage and serviceability are also taught in this course.

Content:

  • Basics of water management; hydrology; watercourses
  • structural barrier - arch dams, gravity dams
  • weirs; Inlet structures - retention of floods
  • Conduction - diversion channel, pressure tunnel
  • Flood protection and retention structures
  • Hydropower plants - run-of-river power plant, high-pressure plants
  • Ecology - fish bypass
