Faculty Day 2024 - 20 years of the Faculty of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering
On 2 December 2024, the traditional Faculty Day of CSBME took place in the Aula of TU Graz. This year, the event had a special focus: the 20th anniversary of the Faculty. Here is a photo gallery of the event.

 

New structure of CSBME
The new structure of the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering has been approved by the University Council: For a unified appearance, all institutes will have an English name from 2025 to increase international visibility. In addition, a new institute will be founded that will focus on the theory of computer science.

 

New directors of BioMedTech-Graz
The new directors of BioMedTech-Graz have been announced: Christine Moissl-Eichinger (Med Uni Graz), Martina Schweiger (Uni Graz) and Thomas Pock (TU Graz).

 

Mind the Gap Award 2024 goes to Thomas Moder 
The 2024 Mind the Gap Award honors Thomas Moder's master's thesis on AI-based voice cloning for people with severe speech impairments.

 

Vienna’s Smart Traffic Lights Are Now Getting Even Smarter
Under the leadership of Horst Possegger (CGV), Vienna has successfully tested a new generation of smart traffic lights that use advanced deep learning to improve safety and accessibility at crossings.

 

ERC Synergy Grant Awarded to Gerhard Holzapfel for Advancing Non-Invasive Imaging of Human Tissue Microstructure and Mechanics
Gerhard A. Holzapfel from the Institute of Biomechanics has been awarded an ERC Synergy Grant. Together with the Helmholtz Centre Hereon and ETH Zurich, he and his team will develop an imaging method for the non-invasive determination of the microstructure and mechanical properties of human tissue.

For PhD students: Unite! 3-Minute Thesis Competition
Apply now for the Unite! 3-Minute Thesis Competition, taking place on 26 February 2025 during the XI Unite! Dialogue in Barcelona.

This exciting competition challenges PhDs from all nine Unite! universities to present their research in just three minutes using only two slides. It's a unique opportunity to prove your science communication skills and represent TU Graz on an international stage.

 

OCG Förderpreis 2025
The prize is awarded for outstanding master theses in the field of computer science, business informatics and their applications. The prize is endowed with 2,000 euros. 

 

Scholarship David-Herzog-Fund
The David-Herzog-Fond supports the work of scientists, students and artists through four program tracks and is supported by all Styrian universities since it was established in 2005.

 

Grazer Linuxtage: Call for Participation
The Graz Linuxtage is an annual conference on open source software and hardware. The next Graz Linuxtage will take place on 25 and 26 April 2025 at TU Graz. The Call for Participation is open!

Doctoral Examinations

Info: Candidates can take the final examination (presentation and oral exam) online via video conference call (e.g. Webex) if all parties involved agree. The requirement of publicity can be ensured as follows: Candidates may distribute the meeting link; requests to participate in the video exam can also be sent by e-mail to the chairperson of the exam commission.
